INDIA WON BY ONLY 5 RUNS IN TWENTY 20 WORLD CUP
September 26: After reaching the Wankhede Stadium, the Twenty20 World Cup winners Team India were felicitated at the stadium on Wednesday.
Amidst a roaring crowd, a historic reception was given to the proud Team India. The first player to be felicitated was star performer Yuvraj Singh. The all-rounder was handed a cash award of Rs 80 lakhs and keys of the Porsche car.
With the title song of Chak De India being played in the background, Yuvraj and rest of the players were felicitated. Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni was the last one to receive the felicitation. The Government of Maharashtra presented a garland to Dhoni for Team India.
The board members dominated the front row of the stage. The Twenty20 World Cup heroes were seated in the second row at Wankhede, while Dhoni was the only team member seated in the front row with BCCI officials.
Earlier an open-bus carried the Twenty20 World Cup winning team on a victory parade through the streets of the city to reach the stadium.
Thousands of fans assembled at the stadium braving heavy rains to witness the public felicitation of the Indian cricket team which won the Twenty20 World Cup on Monday.
